Descripción General
TBPEH (tert-Butyl peroxy-2-ethylhexanoate, CAS 3006-82-4) is a medium-temperature ester peroxide widely used as a polymerization initiator and curing agent. Its 10-hour half-life temperature of 73°C makes it ideal for: • Initiating polymerization of styrene, acrylates, and vinyl acetate • Curing unsaturated polyester resins at moderate temperatures • Production of PVC and EVA via suspension or bulk polymerization • High-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) production as a secondary initiator • Rubber and silicone crosslinking in cable and wire insulation LAAP supplies TBPEH in multiple formulations: 97% pure, and diluted solutions (75%, 50%) in odorless mineral spirits for safer handling and transportation.
Guía Técnica de Selección
Descripción del Producto
tert-Butyl peroxy-2-ethylhexanoate (TBPEH, CAS 3006-82-4) is a medium-temperature peroxyester with 7.35% minimum active oxygen and a 10-hour half-life temperature of 73°C. It is one of the most widely used low-to-mid temperature initiators for acrylic, styrenic and (meth)acrylate polymerization, and for the curing of unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins.
Perfil de Vida Media y Temperatura
TBPEH's 10-hour half-life of 73℃ and 1-hour value of 100℃ place its process window at roughly 90-130°C. It is a frequent choice for the mid-section of a multi-initiator cascade in LDPE and PVC processes, where a fast initiator starts the reaction and TBPEH carries it through the peak. Because the decomposition products include 2-ethylhexanoic acid and carbon dioxide, venting and devolatilization design matter when TBPEH is used at high loading.
Selección Dentro de la Misma Familia
In the LAAP peroxyester family, TBPEH (73°C) is the low-temperature workhorse; TBPMH (CAS 13122-18-4, 94°C) and TBPA (CAS 107-71-1, 100°C) are progressively higher-temperature options, and TBPB (CAS 614-45-9, 103°C) is the highest of the group. Choose TBPEH when the process target is 90-130°C; step up to TBPMH or TBPA when you need the initiator to survive a hotter melt or a longer residence time. TBPEH is also the standard choice where a liquid, easily metered initiator is preferred over a solid.
Calidad, REACH y Documentación
Standard TBPEH is a colourless to pale yellow liquid, ≥97% pure, with a colour specification of 20 APHA and an activation energy of 124.9 kJ/mol. Typical controls are assay, active oxygen, colour and water content. Each batch ships with a CoA; REACH-compliant SDS and a TDS with the half-life table are available.
Embalaje, MOQ y Plazo de Entrega
Standard packing is 20 kg polyethylene drums, with custom sizes on request. SADT is 35°C and the recommended storage temperature is 20°C, so TBPEH is one of the products that genuinely requires cold-chain logistics — it should never be stored above 25°C. Minimum order quantity starts at 25 kg, and quotations are returned within 24 hours.
