1,1-Bis(tert-butylperoxy)cyclohexane (CH, CAS 3006-86-8) is a bifunctional peroxyketal with 12.29% active oxygen and a 10-hour half-life temperature of 94°C. The two peroxy groups on the cyclohexane ring give an unusually high radical yield per molecule, and the byproducts — cyclohexanone and tert-butyl alcohol — are low-odour and easily removed in devolatilization.
Profil de Demi-Vie et de Température
CH is used in the medium-temperature window of 110-150°C. The half-life series (134℃ / 113℃ / 94℃) means the 10-hour point sits at 94°C, so the process window is roughly 20-50°C above it. For polystyrene and acrylic polymerization this delivers a smooth conversion profile; for unsaturated polyester curing it gives a controlled gel time without the exotherm spike seen with faster diacyl peroxides.
Sélection au Sein de la Même Famille
CH sits between CH335 (CAS 6731-36-8, 85°C) and DBPB (CAS 2167-23-9, 98°C) in the peroxyketal series. Choose CH when the process runs 120-140°C and you want a slightly slower decomposition than CH335 to control exotherm in thicker sections. Against DCP (CAS 80-43-3), CH decomposes 23°C lower and, critically, does not produce acetophenone — the key advantage for odour-sensitive applications. CH is also supplied as a dispersion in white oil, which is the standard form when the initiator must be metered into a slurry or aqueous suspension process.
Qualité, REACH et Documentation
Standard CH is a colourless to slightly yellow clear liquid with a colour specification of 50 Pt-Co max. Typical controls are assay, active oxygen, colour and water content. Each batch ships with a CoA; REACH-compliant SDS and a TDS with the half-life table are available.
Conditionnement, MOQ et Délai
Standard packing is 20 kg polyethylene drums, with custom sizes on request. SADT is 70°C with a recommended storage range of 0-25°C, so cold-chain shipping applies to warm destinations. Minimum order quantity starts at 25 kg, and quotations are returned within 24 hours.
