Dicumyl peroxide (DCP, CAS 80-43-3) is the most widely used crosslinking peroxide in the world, with ≥5.89% active oxygen and a 10-hour half-life temperature of 117°C. Its dominance comes from a combination of low cost, a well-understood cure profile, and a very broad application base — from XLPE power-cable insulation to EPDM vulcanization and polypropylene visbreaking.

DCP's 1-hour half-life of 135℃ and 10-hour half-life of 117℃ put the practical cure window at 160-190°C. In XLPE cable manufacture this is run in a continuous vulcanization (CV) tube; the key process variables are the DCP loading, the melt temperature in the extruder (which must stay well below the decomposition threshold to avoid scorch), and the cure-zone residence time. Because DCP decomposes to acetophenone, methane and 2-phenylisopropanol, adequate degassing is essential in high-voltage cable — acetophenone is both a byproduct and a known cause of voids if not removed.

The DCP/BIPB comparison is the single most common decision in this family. DCP is cheaper and has a virtually identical decomposition temperature, but its acetophenone byproduct creates odour and taste issues. BIPB (CAS 25155-25-3) is odourless and is therefore the default for EPDM weatherstrip, silicone rubber, food-contact and interior automotive parts. Within the dialkyl family, DCP (117°C) sits just below TBCP (CAS 3457-61-2, 120°C) and DTBP (CAS 110-05-4, 121°C); for lower-temperature processes choose BIPB or DTAP (CAS 10508-09-5, 108°C).

Standard packing is 20 kg corrugated boxes containing four 5 kg plastic bags, with custom packaging on request. SADT is 75°C and the recommended storage temperature is 30°C. Minimum order quantity starts at 25 kg, and quotations are returned within 24 hours.
