Wire & Cable Insulation
BIPB and DCP are used for XLPE cable crosslinking, providing superior dielectric properties and heat resistance.
Rubber Vulcanization
DCP, BIPB, and BPDH vulcanize EPDM, silicone, and CPE rubber without sulfur, giving odor-free products.
EVA Foam (Shoe Soles)
BIPB-40 is the standard crosslinking agent for EVA foam shoe soles, providing consistent cell structure and density.
PE-X Piping
DCP and other dialkyl peroxides crosslink PE pipes (PE-Xa method) for hot water and radiant heating systems.
Silicone Rubber
BIPB is preferred for HTV silicone molding due to its high-temperature decomposition and odor-free byproducts.
Automotive Seals
High-temp BPDH is used for demanding automotive rubber seals requiring heat resistance above 150°C.
FAQ: Crosslinking Peroxides
What is the difference between BIPB and DCP for rubber crosslinking?
BIPB (CAS 25155-25-3) is odor-free and leaves no residue, making it preferred for food-contact rubber and silicone applications. DCP (CAS 80-43-3) is lower cost and widely used for general rubber vulcanization. BIPB has a slightly higher decomposition temperature.
Can crosslinking peroxides be used for PE pipe crosslinking?
Yes. DCP and BPDH are commonly used for PE-X pipe crosslinking (Engel method / silane method). BIPB is also used. The peroxide content and cure cycle are specified per pipe standard.
What is the safe handling temperature for BIPB (25155-25-3)?
BIPB should be stored below 30°C. It has a SADT (Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature) of about 80°C. Avoid heat sources and friction. LAAP provides full safety data sheets for all crosslinking peroxide grades.
Do you supply crosslinking peroxides on masterbatch or in liquid form?
LAAP supplies BIPB as BIPB-40 (40% active in polymer carrier) for easy processing, as well as neat powder grades. DCP is supplied as DCP-99 (99% powder) and various masterbatch grades. Please contact us for your specific formulation needs.
