FAQ: Peroxide Curing Agents
What is the difference between BPO and MEKP for polyester resin curing?
BPO is used with amine promoters for elevated-temperature curing of polyester resin, while MEKP is typically used with cobalt octoate for room-temperature (ambient) curing. MEKP is more common for hand lay-up FRP. BPO is preferred for injection molding and pultrusion.
Can you supply peroxide curing agents in paste form?
Yes. LAAP supplies BPO as 50% paste (BPO-50) for safe and easy processing in resin systems. CBPO-50 paste is also available. Paste grades are safer to handle than pure powder grades.
What industries use peroxide curing agents?
Peroxide curing agents are used in fiberglass reinforced plastics (FRP/GRP), marine composites, wind turbine blades, chemical storage tanks, automotive body repair, acrylic adhesives, and rubber compounding.
