tert-Amyl peroxypivalate (TAPV)

TAPV (tert-Amyl peroxypivalate, CAS 29240-17-3) is a very low-temperature peroxyester initiator used for the polymerization of vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, ethylene and acrylates. Its 10-hour half-life temperature of 55°C makes it suitable where initiation must begin below 60°C.

The 10-hour half-life temperature of TAPV (CAS 29240-17-3) is 55°C. The 1-hour half-life is 72°C and the 0.1-hour half-life is 91°C, making it one of the most reactive peroxyesters in the LAAP range.

TAPV has a UN number of 3113 and must be stored cold because of its very low decomposition temperature. Keep it refrigerated, away from heat sources and incompatible materials, and consult the SDS for the specific storage temperature range.
